Every three years Guild Members of the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media are invited to submit work for a juried group exhibition called The New Collective, which is held at PCA&M. This year we’ve decided to try something different, and have invited a visiting curator, Tina Dillman, to create an exhibition that will include public programming with participating Guild Members. To be considered for this opportunity, please submit your form by Sunday, June 2 (11:59 EST).
In the beginning of June, selected participants for the first round of curator visits will be notified. Once the visits have been completed, a small group from this pool of applicants will be selected to participate in the exhibition in November. Selected participants will be encouraged to make new work for the exhibition. Additional participants will be invited to produce public programming including workshops and talks.
All forms of work will be considered, which includes 2-D, 3-D, film, video and other media, performance and interactive works, wearables, collaborations, etc. Please include images and/or links to your most recent work and/or works in progress in your application. If you do not have a website or links to your work you must submit images to be considered. Please submit this application, no later than June 2, 2019 (11:59 EST).
This exhibition is open to all current members of the PCA&M Guilds, which includes the Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh, Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh, Group A, Pittsburgh Print Group, Society of Sculptors, and Women of Visions, Inc.
Please note there is NO application fee to apply, and ALL members are encouraged to apply. Applicants living outside of Southwestern Pennsylvania should expect to communicate with the curator by remote means.
The exhibition will be held November 15, 2019 – January 19, 2020, with an opening reception Friday, November 15, 2019, and public programming running throughout the duration of the exhibition. Accepted members of the exhibition are expected to participate in at least one event in addition to the opening reception, unless they’re living outside of the state. Other events can include, but not limited to: workshops, demos, talks, and gatherings. Each participating artist will receive a small stipend. Please note that all accepted work for the exhibition is the responsibility of the maker to ship and install the work on site, prior to the opening. Assistance with installation will be provided via a scheduled appointment.
Deadline: Submissions due electronically by 11:59pm on June 2, 2019.
Selection Process: All submissions will be reviewed by the curator, Tina Dillman.
Notification: Artists selected to participate in the <i>first round</i> of visits will be notified by email shortly after the June 2 application deadline.
Artists selected to participate in the Exhibition will be contacted by the curator at a TBD date.

About Tina Dillman: As an independent artist, curator, educator, writer, and consultant, Tina moves freely through life, working as a civil servant, producing moments, experiences, and opportunities for others. She owes her parents for their sacrifices in providing her and her sister a better life, and hopes one day she can repay them. She attended the University of Iowa for her undergraduate studies and spent time at the San Francisco Art Institute, where she earned her master’s in fine art. She is presently in Pittsburgh, PA.
