2019 Solo & Collaborative Call for Artists

Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (PF/PCA) is accepting proposals from artists, artist groups, and cultural producers living within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh for solo and collaborative exhibitions of new works. This exhibition is open to  all visual disciplines including but not limited to 2D, 3D, installation, electronic and time-based work. For the 2019 call, artists may choose to submit works for an additional Screening and Performance Program presented in the new Marshall screening room.

Requirements: Submitted works must not have been previously exhibited. Proposals for new work will also be accepted.

Selection Process: All submissions will be reviewed by the 2019 Exhibitions team and curated by Jessica Alpern Brown. 

Notification: Selected artists will be notified by email on February 4, 2019.

Exhibition: July 12 - August 25, 2019.

Submissions will be reviewed by a PF/PCA exhibitions staff. Additional work or information may be requested for review. 

Accepted artists are expected to transport their work to and from the galleries and to pay all exhibition expenses not assumed by PF/PCA. As a part of the Artist Services program, PF/PCA offers artists information regarding grants and other resources.

The fee for submitting work is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

 
Application requirements
 
Detailed Exhibition Project Description: Upload in .pdf file format.
 
A concise description of the concept of the proposed exhibition with title and names of artist/collaborators involved explaining the artist's intent and working methods. 
 
Include an outline of the proposed exhibition with all details of the work noted, and:
• Whether the work would be site-specific.
• If there are any special installation requirements or equipment needed.
 
Work samples may be submitted in the following formats:
 
• Digital images: Digital images must be in .jpg format no larger than 2MB, set to 300 DPI, and no smaller than 4” on its shortest side.
• Video: Video files must be in .mov format no larger than 8 MB
• Sound: Sound files may be in .mp3, mp4 or .aiff no larger 8 MB
 
Include a list of works uploaded with this application. Include artist's name, title of work, date, medium, dimensions, and weight (if applicable). Include a one-sentence description of the work if necessary. 
• All files should correspond to the transcript of works.
• File name must be as follows: artist’s last name, number as listed on transcript of works, key word from title, and whether it is a detail, segment, clip, or full piece of the work.
